Notes

The Escort Mk 3 was all new in 1981 with front wheel drive and a hatchback design. It had sporting variants of XR3 and XR3i but the RS1600i and RS Turbo variants were worthy enough to carry that coveted RS badging.

The Mk 3 rally car never really got off the ground. The RS1700T was canned before it saw active service but by then the RS badging had come to mean on road performance and handling as well as rallying success.
